Garlands - General Information
A) INCREASED CARRYING CAPACITY
Greater carrying capacity can be acheived with garland versus rigid conveyors. Rigid
conveyors (over distances in excess of 100 meters) will settle the conveyed material to a
flatter profile, lowering the maximum conveying capacity.

B) NO TRAINING IDLERS
Every garland helps train the belt, so separate and costly training idlers are not
required.
The garland can deform from its normal troughto suit varying load conditions. This
transverse flexibility allows eccentrically loaded garlands to form a steep angle on the
more heavily loaded side of the belt. Since the garland is at rest in its normal trough
position, the eccentrically loaded garland will move to its rest position, aligning the
load and belt at the same time.
C) LONGER BELT LIFE
Various factors of garland idlers combine to improve the belt life:
- the flexibility of the garlands provide a smoother, less jarring flow of material.
- since no training idlers are required, the belt edges are saved much abuse.
- impact garlands move with the material as it strikes the belt. This action reduces much
belt wear and tear.
