Wilatt Conveyors Inc. Garlands - General Information

2) Inclined Conveyors

A) TROUGH

TROUGH

The maximum recommended incline for a rigid system is 18° versus 22° for a garland system. The 4° increase with garlands is due to the smoother conveying action that results from the lateral and lengthwise flexibilty. They "give" with the load, reducing slippage of the inclined conveying material.

B) "V" RETURN

"V" RETURN

On inclined conveyors in excess of 10°, a rigid system must be used on the return side. The garlands will hang vertically, not at right angles to the belt. This effect allows the belt to travel relatively flat, not in the required "V" shape, resulting in improper belt training.

3) Declined Conveyors

C) TROUGH

TROUGH

Generally the maximum decline is 5°: rigid systems work more efficiently than garlands for the reasons given regarding "V" returns above. With short conveyors and minus 50mm material, angles up to 18° can be used.

B) RETURN

RETURN

Return garlands force the belt into the centre "V" and provide far better training than rigid idlers, doing away with training sets.
